My newest beads are whales, scarabs and maneki neko (Japanese lucky cats).  At right is the calico cat (traditionally luckiest and holding a fish symbolic of abundance) and the less-traditional cell-phone-signal-enhancing cat. I also just started embedding beads in concrete to make pins.

Beads have an ancient history as amulets with magical potency.  I enjoy making bright, lighthearted, contemporary beads that aren't just "cute" but are characters I can inbue with powers and intentions.  I enjoy jewelry-making most when it involves placing these characters into a scene and combining the symbolism and significance of various components.

I don't have any shows until spring but check out my new Etsy shop!
I'll be adding more items to it.

I started making flameworked beads over 10 years ago but in 2004 finally settled into a year-round studio using natural gas and an oxygen concentrator.  I make buttons, knobs and rings as well as beads and some finished jewelry.  I'm located in Minneapolis, MN.  I'm a member of the International Society of Glass Beadmakers as well as an officer of our local chapter called the Star of the North Glassworkers.
